Rotary Passing of the Gavel

 

The last regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Houghton Lake 2015-2016 club year was busy with scholarship presentations, year in review, Rotarian of the Year recognition, club vote and change on meeting day, and passing of the gavel ceremony. 2015-2016 Rotary President Becky Yuncker presented $4,250 in Scholarships to graduating Houghton Lake High School students, recapped a Rotary year that included ten new Rotarians, an auction that raised over $30,000, $10,000 in Rotary awards to the club ($5,000 to be used for an international project), and recognition as “Organization of the Year” by the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce. The club members also voted on a new meeting day with strong support to move the club meeting day from Monday to Tuesday. The Rotary Club of Houghton Lake will now meet on Tuesdays at the same time and location, Buccilli’s Pizza in Houghton Lake.

 

 

Becky recognized Anita Sheppard as Rotarian of the Year and thanked her for her support through the year before passing the gavel to 2016-2017 Rotary President Jim VanSice. The next regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Houghton lake will take place on Tuesday, July 12th – Noon at Buccilli’s Pizza in Houghton Lake.
