MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER 14, 2022
Meeting called to order: 12:05 pm at Buccilli’s
Pledge led by Heather Marra
Prayer led by Barb Souder
Attendance: Rhonda Fossitt , Susan Tyer, Rhonda Lamberg, Rita VanScyoc, Heather Marra, Ben Elliott, Barb Souder, Jim VanSice, Gordie LaFontaine, Gary Gandolfi, Scott Bates
Food, social time, 50/50
Introduction of Guests: Casey Nowlin (Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center)

Minutes: December 7, 2022. Minutes were approved.

Speaker:
Casey Nowlin, Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center
- In the last year 431 kids seen, 349 sex abuse, 35 witness to violence
- Budget is down 37 percent from federal dollars
- Picked up additional counties which has resulted in additional dollars
- Offer gas cards to allow people to get to the center without resources. $7000 gas cards were purchased through a grant
- A brochure was handed out on the Children’s Assessment Center
Club Business:
- “Turkeys instead of Tickets” at traffic stops will took place on December 13th and 14th. Gordie and Jim were on 7 & 4 news discussing the event.
- An announcement was made that Nominations are Opened up for President Elect. Rita has decided to step down from President-Elect due to other commitments.
Houghton Lake Rotary Auction Committee
o Heather will contact MJ’s Eatery for a bid
o Rita will contact Premos BBQ for a bid
o Rhonda Fossitt will contact Randy’s Family Restaurant for a
bid
o Menu is sock hop type food – burgers, hot dogs with
variation suggested by caterer
o Food needed for 200 to 250 people
- Ticket price - $50 in advance and $60 at door
- Save the Date postcards to go out to possible attendees
- Venue has been reserved, Four Seasons Event Barn, April 29 for $2650.
- Future Auction Committee Meetings need to be scheduled
- Rita will contact Becky’s Best Sewing Machine for possible warehouse space to collect auction items.
- DJ will be Party Pam
- Grand Prize- Heather has suggestion which include Victrola , Grease DVD, Smart TV (Walmart) , men’s leather jacket, women’s jacket, Blu Ray/DVD Player
- 2 Lotto Boards and Wine Pull

Upcoming Events:
Shop with a Hero
December 14th , leave police post at 6:00 pm
With various funding sources, this year there will be a
$125/child for shopping at Walmart for Holiday gifts.
