BOARD MINUTES I OCTOBER 19, 2022
Meeting called to order: 11:05 am at Buccilli’s
Attendance: Rhonda Fossitt , Susan Tyer, Rita VanScyoc, Heather Marra, Barb Souder, Ben Elliott, Anita Sheppard
Approval of Sept 2022 board minutes: Susan Tyer made the motion to approve the minutes; Rita seconded it and all approved
Local Grants
- Artesia Youth Park Halloween Party- $500 Approved
- Shop with a Hero- $800 Approved
- With costs increasing would be willing to look at a larger grant up to $1500 if a request was submitted

Rotary Business
Giving Tuesday Nov 16 Rotarians donations for Community
Foundation. This year we will increase match. If the individual Rotarians donate over $1000, the club will donate $2000. If the individual Rotarians donate under $1000, we will match dollar for dollar. (Rotarians who donate directly will also be matched if they let the club know)
A motion was made by Anita and seconded by Susan to make this change toour donation policy for this year. Motion was carried.
- El Salvador Trip for Interact Students Rhonda Lamberg requested $1500 for a structure for the trip. Then separately $310 for 60th anniversary
Interact event at the school on Nov 8.
This money was already in budget and was approved.
- Houghton Lake Rotary is looking to form a grant committee. Given training and experience good candidates would be Wendy D, Diane N and Rhonda L.
- There is a $300 public image grant that is available that we should consider.
- Library Book program will continue for next year. 27 books were sent to Heather’s house. Donated by Colleen, prior Rotarian. In addition to speakers signing one book after a presentation, Heather will select one for club signing and one for Coreen to sign.

Christmas Live Sale- It will be recommended to club that we not host the online Christmas live sale this year. There are some logistic issues. Our time and money will be spent on the many other events.
Holiday Gathering- This year, on Nov 30, the Rotarians will gather at the Back Door Salon for a dinner. We will order off the menu.
