Membership – Corporate Membership – Koreen
Proposal by Anita- Anita explained that the dues all goes out of the club with exception to $5 per quarter. Corporate Members are not Rotarians so they do not need to pay into the dues that are accounted for Rotary members.
The benefits of having corporate members is to bring in more people to assist and help with our events.
The disadvantage of having corporate members is that it has been expressed that some call themselves Rotarians where they are not Rotarians.
We need to clearly define the corporate member and what that means.
We will need to do a review of corporate members yearly and approve them before they enter the club as a corporate member.
We do expect the corporate members to stand in for the Rotarian and attend or assist in our fundraising events.
The board discussed calling Corporate Members- “Corporate Associate of Rotary”.
Cole said he will write up parameters for a corporate member.

Arts & Crafts Association – Susan
There are two Arts and Crafts shows in our community. One is at the public library and the other is in the middle school. The people that were in charge are not going to do it anymore. They asked the HL Chamber of Commerce who they should go to continue the show. The Chamber suggested the HL Rotary Club. $19,000-$22,000 is what they brought in pervious years doing the Arts and Crafts show. They charged $70 for a booth. They paid $2,000 for people to work the grounds. We are going to ask the club if this is something we should pursue. These events will take place on holiday weekends in the summer.
How much man power would it be? We are looking at holiday weekends for when we would need Rotarians to help work these shows.
Denise is going to investigate this opportunity more and present it to the board.

Club Report – Rhonda
Rhonda posted the Club Report on the website.

Thomas McNamara Trail - Rhonda
Rhonda is going to pursue the Thomas McNamara Trail more in the spring. Rhonda talked to Tom’s wife and what we wanted to have on the trail. Tom’s request was to educate the walker. Bob Spaulding has been pro-active in marking the trail and they are going to clear that trail when we decide that’s the one that can be cleared. The township will also supply the chips for the trail. In Tom’s memorial, we have named a park fund after him. We would like to further purchase a bench with the signs needed for the trail.

Presentation:  Interact Students – Polio Eradication
Jenna spoke about Polio and the effects in children under the age of 5. There is a Polio prevention from vaccines, but it is not curable. 100% cases can be prevented from vaccines. Jonas Salk invented the Polio vaccine. It was used more commonly in the 60s and on. Now the Polio vaccine is given twice to infants.

Rhonda had a video played about Polio which gave information about Africa in 2015 and their outbreak of Polio. Africa has been since cleared from Polio. They had 3 years with no new cases. www.ribi.org

  1. Improve lives -16 million people are walking from not contracting Polio.
