Rotary Meeting Minutes February 1st, 2023

Club Business:
50/50 Business Raffle – All tickets SOLD!

Auction Update:

* All ticket info was provided to Bob P. hopefully the tickets can be expedited.

* Drop Dead Date for procurements will be March 15th, please do not procure from business or individuals another Rotarian has previously procured from. As procurements are brought in, the
procurement list will be updated on our HL Rotary website and will be highlight with the appropriate color. After March 15th
any business or person from the previous procurement list that has not procured by the previous Rotarian is up for grabs!

* We are asking everyone to hold on to their procurements and bring the majority of the to our last meeting prior to the auction. You can always snap a quick photo on your phone so we van use for social media/advertising purposes. We can load truck/trailer that meeting day and JimV. can house the truck in the WALmart lot until Sunday/Monday of auction Week.

* Tera believes we can get into the hall the late afternoon/evening of Sunday, April 23rd. She will confirm the time with us at a later date.

* Rita tried to contact Koreen Pray about using Kabintreee Koncepts trailer, her office staff said she is on vacation and to email her.

* John contacted UHAUL to find out the rate of renting a large UHAUL truck for 5 days, 60 miles w/coverage & tax : $375. Rita will contact UHAUL to see about reducing the cost or donating the use of the truck to the Auction. More to follow.

* Matt Nester has agreed to be our Auctioneer!

Grant Presentation
a check for $1,200 was presented to Chris Ketow (CO-President) and Wally Wozniak of the Roscommon Food Distibution to sponsor a food truck on June 24th , 2023. Speaker Chris Ketow (Co-President) and Wally Woniak of the Roscommon Food DistributionSeven churches in Roscommon County subsidize food through their churches. During COVID times, only
had 5-6 distributions per year, today there is a food distribution event once a month at the RAPS Bus Garage in Roscommon. The food Bank of Eastern Michigan delivers 16,000 pounds of food, at the cost of $1,200. Approximately 55 volunteers box the food, which is then loaded into clients vehicles. This whole
process take about 3 hours. A typical distribution serves 200 families, about 500 individuals. Each food box will supplement5 days of meals for a family of 4.
They are always looking for donations and for volunteers, you can call Chris Ketow at 810-955-2366 or Wally Wozniak at 586-899-0990 to donate or make volunteer arrangements. This project is especially inneed of 6ft or 8ft, tables to be used at the distribution site.
 
INTERACT
Interact held a student member drive. They are currently accepting donations of new or like new shoes to
give to the community on their upcoming trip to El Salvador. The Hygiene Collection Project will start
next week. Businesses will have decorated collection boxes throughout town. All collected items will go
to Collins Elementary and the Houghton Lake jr/sr High School Comfort Closet. Items will be collected
through March 9th
.
HAPPY CASH – Ben Elliot gave $1 to promote Mental Health Awareness \; Rhonda Lamberg donated $1
to celebrate babysitting their new grandson Roman for the first time.
50/50 $11 to Chris Ketow and $12 to the club
